Statistics are vital to golf. It means the difference between winning and losing or a college scholarship. Verifiable and accurate stats make it much easier for players to see individual and team progress.
I coached high school sports for over 30 years. I became the girls golf coach 20 years ago and inherited the boys team 10 years ago at a high school in Texas, home to some of the most competitive golfers in the country. For 13 years, I did not have an assistant coach for the 14 to 32 players and up to 7 different teams that I coached.
I spent literally hundreds of hours each season recording scores from practice rounds, tournaments, team ladder challenges, and league matches.
